Banana Bhaji (Kn:Balekai Bhaji)
Ingredients
- Raw Banana - 1
- Besan (Gram flour) - 1 cup
- Rice flour - 3 tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Hing (Asafoetodia) - a pinch
- soda - a pinch
- water for mixing
- Oil for deep frying - 300ml
procedure
- Peel the Raw banana and make round medium thick slices
- Soak these slices in hot water for about 20 minutes.
- Take a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, salt, redchilli powder, soda, hing and water. The batter should be semi solid
- Heat oil in a thick bottomed vessel.
- Dip the banana Slices in the batter and leave slowly in the heated oil. Fry on medium flame to golden brown, serve hot.
Tip
- Instead of raw banana one can use potato, ridge gourd, snake gourd
- Red chilli powder can be replaced by green chilli paste.
